New Zealand
In New Zealand if you have an electric bike that exceeds 300 watts then it is considered as a LA moped. For any electric bike that is less than 300watt it is classed as a bicycle. However, any bike above this maximum watt limit can be ridden on any private road or property.

European Union
In the European union all countries unless specified follow directive 2002/24/EC, which exempts vehicles with the following definition form type approval. “Cyclists with pedal assistance which are equipped with an auxiliary electric motor having a maximum continuous rated power of 250w, of which the output is progressively reduced and finally cut off as the vehicle reaches a speed of 25kph (15.5mph) or the cyclists stops peddling.

Australia
In Australia, they follow a similar law to the EU. Electric Bikes if over the power output of 250watt are deemed to be a moped and classed in the LA moped category. This law is the same throughout all states.
